Easter Sunday Prayer Service - March or April - Grand Forks and Castlegar

Ted Kuntz is a psychotherapist in private practice in Vancouver. Much of the wisdom that Ted shares didn't come from his formal training. Rather, it came from his personal journey as the father of a child with disabilities. Ted's journey with his son Joshua taught Ted how to make peace with life.

Mother's Day Walk for Peace - Annual event on Mother's Day - typically held in Osoyoos, BC

The official re-opening of the Historic Brilliant Suspension Bridge will take place on May 22, 2010, in conjunction with the 63rd Annual USCC Doukhobor Union of Youth Festival at the Brilliant Cultural Centre in Castlegar, BC. The official opening ceremonies will start at the Brilliant Cultural Centre at 10:00 am, with guest speakers and entertainment, followed by the official ribbon cutting ceremony at the Brilliant Bridge nearby. The event is open to the general public.

Centenary Spiritual Tribute to Lev Nikolaevitch Tolstoy
On the !00th Anniversary of his passing, the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ (USCC) and the Mir Centre for Peace at Selkirk College invite everyone to attend a day of prayer, song, and reflection in remembering Tolstoy's ongoing influence in the worlds of art, social justice, humanitarianism and spirituality.

Events include:
Spiritual Moleniye beginning at 10:am, Brilliant Cultural Centre.
Prayer, song and word reflecting on Tolstoy's continuing significance to the Doukhobor community in understanding and building cultures of peace. Everyone welcome.

DECEMBER 9, 1837 : Birth of Doukhobor leader Peter Larionovitch Kalmakov.

International Human Rights Day - this Day marks the anniversary of the United Nations Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

DECEMBER 12, 1896:  Leo Tolstoy, with his associates, publishes an "Appeal for Help" - historic pamphlet which draws world attention to plight of Doukhobors in the Causcasus.

DECEMBER 15, 1886 : Lukeriya Vasilyevna Kalmikova passes away at the village of Goreloye, Province of Tiflls, at the age of 45.

DECEMBER 21, 1898 : First shipload of Doukhobors on the "Lake Huron" leaves Batum, Russia, with 2,134 people on board.

DECEMBER 22, 1902 : Peter Vasilyevitch Verigin - Lordly arrives at Winnipeg, Canada, from his 15 year exile In Siberia, and is reunited with the Doukhobors in the Yorkton district settlements on December 24, 1902.
